reviving my HT with disk brakes

I had this bike made in 1998 - it was a stock model, but I had a few custom things done with the geometry - since then I have had four different forks and many changes in compenentry. The bike always rode great but riding my other bikes with disks, and getting on this one with about 50% of the braking of my others sucked. I rode it less and less.

A few months ago I decided to get a Brake Therapy - but before I ordered I stuck one of my other wheels with a 6" disk in my frame and saw that the disk was hitting the chain stay.

Well to make a long story short - I bought a XTR 140mm disk, did some machining on the disk and the hub to bring the disk about .050" closer to the hub - found an old specialized disk brake adapter for FSR's, filed the hell out of that - and I had a rear disk. I have taken it on 3 long rides since the install - one with a 3000' continious decent - and it woks perfectly. I am in the process of making a new one, just to clean up the looks, and to throw the old one in my pack incase somthing breaks.
