2004 Jamis Durango SX: Any good?
A friend has been offered this bike (specs below). I'm a road guy, so I don't know, but is this a decent bike for city riding?
New, the owner said he paid $850. What's it worth today?
The catch: the owner is leaving town today, and so a decision has to be reached soon.
Thanks for your help.
This seems to be the bike:
Frame: 7005 triple gauge aluminum
Fork: Manitou Axel Comp 80mm
Rims: Alex TD17 disc
Hubs: Formula Hi-Lo disc
Spokes: Stainless steel
Front Derailleur: Shimano Deore
Rear Derailleur: Shimano Deore
Shift Levers: Shimano Deore
Chain: Z-9200
Crankset: TruVativ 5D
Cog Set: Shimano HG-50 | 11-32
Bottom Bracket: TruVativ sealed cartridge taper
Brakes: Hayes mechanical disc
Brake Levers: Avid FR-1
Seatpost: Alloy
Saddle: WTB Speed V Sport
Handlebars: ATB Riser
Stem: Jamis Alloy
Grips: Kraton dual compound
Extras: 2 water bottle mounts
WEIGHT: 27.00 LBS

I don't know what the guy is asking for it but I would offer 250.00. As for the 27 pounds, that bike would weigh thirty on my scale. I'd love to have the scale the manufacturer is using!

i have the same frame on my scott (at least it looks the same to me) and it's a pretty stout frame. it has held up well to my abuse (at over 230)
