i have an 07 specialized P.2 aluminum, the avid bb5's are nice brakes, i have the bb7's, i would suggest getting compressionless cables, and checking how close the pads are to the rotors. by the way how much do you weigh?

Have you ridden the bike enough to 'burn in' the brakes? Did you contaminate the discs or pads in any way?

"Ride It Hard"- that's what SHE said.

I weigh 180 and i have ridden it a lot. What do you mean by contaminate the brakes? Also, how far away should the pads be?

'Contaminate' means getting oil or other similar crap on the rotors or the pads.

If you have mechanical disc brakes use the barrel adjusters to close the pads in closer to the rotor. Get them as close as possible without the pads dragging on the rotors. Adjust back out if you want more lever travel.

It's also possible that the pads are worn out. Take it to your LBS for pad replacement.

You may have to adjust how close the pads are. Try that before buying anything.

You can get disk brake specific cleaner at the local auto parts store.
Also pull your pads and inspect them for foreign deposits.

I keep inspecting my bank accounts for foreign deposits but everything there is something I put in - - and never enough. What's the best way to accumulate foreign deposits?

First step in getting the brakes to work is to use proper english.
