Pedal bob

I currently ride an old hard tail. I want to get a full suspension bike but I enjoy the climbing aspects of the hard tail ,so I'm concerned about "pedal bob" associated with full suspension. I do mostly cross country riding no racing. I've been looking at Specialized Epic,Stumjumper FSR or Santa Cruz Blur XC. Has anyone done similiar comparisons? I want a good overall bike but don't want to compromise the climbing aspect too much. Is there are huge difference climbing with the above mentioned? I know "pedal bob" will be a new thing either way but I don't want something that has too much. I am willing to overlook some "pedal bob" for a good overall bike.

I have a huge nasty soft FS for DH and I lose alot of energy into my rear suspension, If you want a FS get it, youll have to make a slight sacrifice, no design is perfect, but some are def. better than others.

Companies like SC and Spec. are HUGE XC companies, and they wouldnt be if their stuff sucked, either way your going to get a good climber, but probably not as good as an HT would...

I myslef prefer the slack long bikes, so IF I did decide to pedal my fat ass up I would probly still get a FS simply because its a bit of a smoother ride, and I feel that some give and sacrifice is somewhat forgiving and beneficial (in my mind, maybe not yours) But thats IF I got XC, Im too big mean and rough for all those nimbly flexy light scary XC things....

My wife rides a Blur, my daughter a SJ FSR...both tell me that they're the best bikes they've ever ridden. I can confirm that peddle bob isn't an issue if you stay in your saddle...both have lock outs on their forks which they never have to use, and both bikes have a Fox Float R shock which is perfect for the trails they ride.

Both bikes climb like goats, are incredibly stable on the descents, and handle well on the tight single track we ride here

Sorry, no experience with the Epic, but its more of an XC racer so it may not suit the kind of riding you do

That was the most blanketed uneducated remarks that I've seen in a long time here on the forums.

As a matter of fact, your whole post was rediculous.

Santacruz is just "HUGE" into building bikes. I believe they make more "non-XC" bikes than not. Bullit, Heckler, Nomad, V-10, VP Free, Jackal...

If you want to stand on the pedals and jump up and down, without any bob then take a look at the Epic. If pedal bob and climbing efficiency are your only qualifiers, take a look at the Epic. If you want a softer ride and a good overall bike I would suggest the Stumpy or the Blur!

I fell in love with the Brain Fade equipped Stumpy when I rode a "test bike". That thing was so efficient for how smooth it was. I tried to trade my Jamis, Gary Fisher, and kid for it. They told me to go fly a kite.

hey everyone... lets get side tracked while I simultaneously try to make myself look intelligent. Get your head out of your butt buddy...

I simply meant they are big companies, not by bike frame specificity respectively... (do i sound smart yet)... anyone wanna be my friend?!?!

So you fail to type exactly what you meant, then get bent 'cause someone takes umbrage at your poorly worded statement, the same statement you had to reclarify in a second post? That's awesome. I as a reader, did not get any of the second posts content when I initially read the first post. Alas, after hitting the submit button I will be powering off. I am afraid I'll miss any further clarifications.

I dont think I failed in the least, I meant what i said and I said what I meant.

I refuse to take into account all of those who may not understand my thoughts, If you don't understand what I mean you could ask for clarification politely, but mindless banter and criticism is not needed (unless I see fit (this is a joke)); BTW the post in question was taken a different way.

Thank you for recognizing my awesomeness.

This post is simply for my rectification so don't bother reading it...

SORRY for the hijack!

love - Jacob
