Cyclist Road Rage
I had to post his here (posted in the Roadie section too)

Anyone want to share any 'Rage' experiences ? I do not cycle on the road very often because I don't trust drivers at all.

The road? Why would you ride on the road? The road sucks! Please do not bring up such vile topics.

I also do not trust drivers flying fish. Today I was just riding down a street then got to a intersection and a crazy women driver almost hit me on a turn, no turn signal or any warning. I think she was tying to hit me seriously. She was also doing at least 45mph if not 50mph.

"T" boned cars numerous times.
I have ran into the back of cars, been cut off uncountable times.
Nothing to rage about , as they say "**** happens".
My take on it is , if one cannot stand the heat get away from the flames.
When on the bike, one is in no bargaining position. When one starts "raging" anything can & sooner or later WILL happen, maybe not right at the moment but maybe 2 or 3 days down the road when said offender sees you again whilst in their rolling battering ram.

since my bike is my main mode of transportation (in a college town) I constantly deal with careless drivers. The biggest issue is just drivers pulling out in front of you, or into the crosswalk if you are on a bike path. I usually just ride as close to the front of their car as possible and make eye contact with them.
The other problem is people passing ridiculously close forcing you up against curbs. On a few occasions I have had to just slap the truck with an open hand as hard as possible, which usually manages to freak out the people in the car to a great extent. Hopefully making them aware that they are sharing the road with more than just cars.
I wouldn't call it...rage....though...

Why did the driver roll his window down? dumbass.
Anyway, a fine reason to take to the woods and ride in relative peace.

When I do ride on the road I realize that my 170 pounds of meat, and a couple feet of aluminum are absolutely no match for 2000+/- pounds of steel and hurt. So I keep my wits about me and automatically assume that nobody is paying enough attention to notice me. On another note, back in my hometown we have a lot of roads that are on top of levee's that flank the Mississippi. On almost every weekend, at least 20 cyclists can be seen in less than an hour. There's a bar at the "head" of the access to most of these roads where a lot of the locals hang out and cyclists come in to have a drink. One thing lead to another and some words were said between a local farmer and a cyclist ( no idea what started it) the cyclist spit on the guy's truck/did something I don't know I've never heard the story from a 1st person viewpoint, and then took off to keep riding. The farmer, seeing the fresh loogie takes off and runs the person off the road, which means a dip off a 30ft tall 50+ degree incline. Needless to say the cyclist was injured. Of course the farmer was a loose cannon, and has since been treated for several mental disfunctions.... buuuut don't bring a knife to a gun fight, or a bike to a demo-derby.

Well, the cyclist is still alive and the farmer was one of the "rich" farmers who made out good in land deals and such. Roadies have a bad rep around this area of not sharing the road to begin with because they all come over from St. Louis and have no backroad experience to begin with.
