    81 gears

Yes, 81 gears. Horrible, horrible cabling.

    Interesting.
Never seen those brakes, cranks or pedals before. Or such terrible bloody cable routing!!!

What an idiot - brake hose under the saddle! Bit of hose trimming wouldn't go unnoticed.

That's funny, I think 27 speeds are a bit excessive.

How do those internal hubs work? How do you go change through all 81 gears? Ridiculous!

That's cool, but what's going on with the stem?

I've never seen one like that before.

What a mess. And I guarantee it won't sell as listed.

    3-speed internal rear hub.

    3-Chainrings
    9-Cogs
    3-rear hub

    3x9x3=81

I was thinking the same thing - they dont exist as far as i know! And they're all kinds of patent/copyright infringement.

I'd be keen to take an 81 speed bike for a spin though - i dont really see an advantage to having the dual drive hub AND 3 chainrings. 27 speeds is enough to get you over most terrain IMO.

I wonder how many "real" gears this frankenbike has, after you leave out the grossly cross-chained and nearly identical gear ratio combinations. A 3x8 drivetrain has what, maybe 17-18 at most? And yes, he should go read Sheldon's page on cable routing ("No wrong direction bends!").

Who is this General Failure anyway, and why is he reading my drive?

It's an Avid Saago. (Stiff As All Get Out)

It combined the stem, star nut and top cap all in one unit. A cool concept, but a bit impractical as there was no height adjustabilty - it had to clamp to the top of the steerer.

Unless I am mistaken, the fork's stanchions have pinch bolts at the crown. Must be dated, and 'Ronin' fork.

    Whoo, boy.

I guess the Brits see a lot that we don't. Never heard of those brakes. We're just now getting Magura forks.
