Do all forks have the same sized....tube?
The tube that goes into the bike frame? Are they universal among mountain bikes? Or do I have to figure out what size i have on my frame? Sorry, I don't know the terminology.

Which question does that particularly answer?

You might want to head back before they get all sensitive and hold a wake. |

Not off topic. I answered his question.
If you don't want to be criticized, then scurry back to ****er land (foo) and get back to snuggling with your fellow ****ers. |
So a fellow member, unknowing of certain terminology or mechanical specifics, asks four questions seeking helpful answers, only to receive a stingy "No." does not seem very hospitable.

There are multiple sizes. You need to measure the outside diameter of the fork steerer tube. |

Back to ****erland for you.
The answer was factual, and helpful. Being hospitable is not a requirement for replying, regardless of any foo-****er's whining to the contrary. How exactly have you answered the question, ****er? |

My response was very on topic to your thread.
If you continue to post idiocy (other recent postings) then expect people to point out your idiocy and continue to laugh at you. |

Fagerlin... how old are you?
Based on your website, I would think you are a grown man. Based on your posts, it seems like you are a bratty NorCal teenager who had everything handed to him by his parents, and still seems to live off of it... Maybe a little of both? |
I'm gonna go ahead and guess you are going to reply pretty quickly to that one... I'll check back in five minutes...
Or maybe I won't. That may be worse to you than replying... |
"Where is your Mod now, priest? AH-AH-AHAHAHAHAH!"
No but seriously. Somebody shut this sheet down. |
has legalize made a thread that has lasted over 8 hours before being deleted?
this one is boring the spikey tire one was good. |
Fagerlin you're wrong and should stop responding to any thread forever. EVAR!
|
Fagerlin is better at life then most people in this thread.
|
Hey lets just keep on topic. Please
|
SST, WTF did you just say?
Legalize, I know you're a dopefiend and all that (hey, me too!), but how have you managed to be a member of a bike forum for well over a year and a half and still be this ignorant? No offence, I'm just baffled.. |
Well my problem is that my bike has this lameass little fox air piston on the rear, which only has about 1" travel. I'm not sure if that will conflict with my choice of fork. I want to get this fork and Ideally move it on to my next frame, which will be better. But I'm not sure I'll be able to do that, now that I know that the steerer tube (the tube that comes off the fork? or is this the tube that the fork goes into on the frame?) can be different sizes on bikes.
I don't know if itll be oil, pneumatic, or spring. I have no idea about the pros/cons of each. I just want a nice fork that is an actual shock. It seems right now that my crappy rock shox are essentially a SPRING. It's so lame. |
K.
Your '02 FSRxc should have 90mm rear travel. You should be looking for a fork with 80-100mm travel. Your steerer (the tube extending from the top of the fork. The only tube that isn't either of the legs. The tube that connects to the stem, allowing you to steer the bike) is 1.1/8 inch. This is the most common size nowadays. Go check out some forks and find something that fits the above criteria and your budget. Ride and be merry :) Edit- The steerer tube on your new fork will probably be too long and will obviously need to be cut down. You could hacksaw it, but you'll be better off getting your LBS to do it. |

yes, there are different sizes, but most bikes have the same size diameter head tube. Some new freeride bikes have a larger headtube, designed for 1.5'' diameter steerer tubes, and some older bikes have a smaller headtube, designed for 1'' steerer tubes. But, a substanially vast majority of modern mountain bikes are designed for the same steerer tube size, 1 1/8''.

there is a sticky at the top of the page to help you sort out the pros and cons. MTB FAQ BTW, this is my last post here at BF MTB. I just waste to much damn time here. To all the regulars, its been fun. |
