I'd leave the dork disc on until you get used to riding the bike.

The dork disc is easily removed once you remove the cassette. Requires a special tool and probably not worth the effort.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, "WOW! WHAT A RIDE!"

If it's plastic, take a pair of dykes and carefully cut through it radially until you can snap it off.

If you do this just be carefull you dont cut or damage anything else. I reckon the dork disk is fine, some people think it looks a bit dorky though
