Fork Maintenance?

Looking at the manual for my fork, '05 Fox Float R 130mm, I should be changing the FLOAT fluid, changing the oil, inspecting the bushings, etc. I'm not a mechanical idiot, but I'm not sure about doing this myself, or at all for that matter. Is this something I should definitely do? This came on a used bike I bought last year, and supposedly the guy had just sent it back to be rebuilt. But, who knows.

Should I send this back to Fox to get done, or take it to a local shop? I know of one that is an authorized dealer.

What do you all recommend?

Fox

If it has been sent back to fox for service, everything should be relatively in good condition. The fluid may need to be changed, But unless you have the fluid itself and a graduated cylinder, I wouldn't do it. Perhaps you should have your shop take a look, or maybe fox keeps records of the forks they service by serial number.

Service manuals are available at the Foxracingshox website.

Their forks look pretty easy to service.

eh.

To replace the inner bushings, you need proprietary fox racing shox tools.

hmmm

I'm no suspension expert but,

Refer to marzocchi's website.

I just changed the suspension fluid in my Fox, and it feels super good.
