What should an older GT Pantera sell for?

...very subjective I realize... Just looking for a reasonable idea what I should pay for an older GT Pantera. I'm not sure yet what year it is. The seller doesn't know for sure either I don't think. However, I know it's at least 5 or 6 years old. Very good shape. They are asking just over 300 for it. I have NO idea what it should be worth. I'm looking for some opinions on what might be reasonable. Assume everything is in really good shape overall.

I would think you could find a better deal. 5-6 years old, bare bones bike, 300 seems high.

I wouldn't pay over $100 for that bike.

The same value as a TCR1? Unbelievable...I figured a little more than that.

A 6 year old bottom of the line used bike is worth less than $100 to me.

You could view it differently.

Keep in mind it's good natured ribbing...I'm not serious. I can't even determine how old it really is. I figured 5-6. It could be older than that. It isn't anything special I realize. I was looking for a 'decent' bike to beat around when I'm not riding the ones that cost as much as my car .. and found this down the road from me. The price did seem a little steep *but* it looks brand spankin' new..so who knows? I didn't. I'm not a mountain biker.. I do fixed/road only and this would be a first. I figured this would be the forum side to ask. I was looking for a good idea of how far out of bounds the price was if it WAS too much. The guy selling it is an accomplished/known triathlete and does has some bike experience. I found what I thought was info on the right bike and it had it's MSRP at over double what this guy was asking.. Hell I don't know. If you put that TCR aside for a couple of years and don't ride it...and pull it out to sell it to me in mint condition I might not be inclined to insult you with 100 offer if you get my drift. Now is it (GT) worth 300-325...? Maybe to most likely not from what I'm hearing. Just didn't want to go in low and piss the guy off if it really is worth that much.

If the guy is a serious cyclist, his assumptions of the bikes worth will be greater than it's actual worth. Never think that a bike hasn't been ridden... I fancy myself a cyclist, and take care of my stuff. My old TCR has over 15000 miles on it, with well over 10 races... but it still looks new.

If the MSRP was only $650 5-6 years ago (no suspension fork, so it could be even older), then it sure isn't worth $300 today.

I just don't want you to get tossed.

To further this, I checked ebay. The Pantera is along the same lines as the Avalanche. There are 2007 Avalanches going for $180.

Let's see....

This bike has STX components and center pull cantilever brakes.

That dates it to 1994-1996.

It's worth? About $100.
