12 Holiday Item offer / group buy on bikeforums

Happy holidays

Over the course of the last month, forum members have suggested an assortment of items that could be offered for a holiday special & group buy

The results are at this link:

https://bikesdirect.com/products/12days/holiday12.htm

Brian at bikeforums.net will make this thread sticky in the near future thru the end of December
and at that time the link and this thread will be deleted

We do not have all pictures ready yet
but here is a rough idea of what is offered

Kestrel Evoke as Frameset OR Complete bike

Kestrel RT700 as Frameset OR Complete bike

Bottecchia CARBON FIBER Frame only OR Frame&Fork only

VUELTA CUSTOM CARBON FIBER CLINCHER WHEELSET

VUELTA CUSTOM CARBON FIBER TUBULAR WHEELSET

MOTOBECANE le CHAMPION Ti

MOTOBECANE le CHAMPION SL Ti

MOTOBECANE le CHAMPION TEAM Ti

MOTOBECANE FLY TEAM Ti

I will put up better pictures as we get them
and I need to add that I am sorry there is no track, cyclo cross, or touring/commuting here
if this works well - next year's holiday season will get a wider selection
AND I am sorry there is only one Mountain Bike - but at least it is the best deal ever offered on a hardtail.

Have a great holiday season

Looks like you still have some bolts to tighten.

You are correct sir

The first sample of this bike my wife took
used to win the regional adventure bike race which qualified her for the nationals
she then road it in the Adventure bike nations [which are 24 hours]
beleive that one was setup and triple checked

The one we have pictured is a new sample we had flown in for these photos and for a national magazine to review. You may have already read reviews of the Aluminum FLY TEAM as every mag has done one. This sample we just gave a simple setup and photoed and then dis assembled & off to the magazine for testing. I assure you the magazine will do a complete setup & tune before testing. So do not worry, there is no safety issue on this. But thanks for pointing it out.

By the way, any other comment - like how does this compare to other light weight hardtails you can find under $2000??

thanks

Mike
Do you have the weight's of the Bottechi Carbon Frame and the Frameset?
Size 58 would be best but any idea what the frame weighs will be fine.
Thanks

I ordered a Fly Ti hardtail. Way schwag ride. I priced the components and the build kits on Colo Cyclist are about the price of this entire bicycle. In other words the parts alone are just about worth the price. I'll probably upgrade the only fufnick component, the wheels. But those may turn out to be fine.

Always wanted a Ti hardtail. I have a 1999 Jamis Dragon now (Reynolds 853, no disc brakes). This ride should be 2+ lbs lighter with disc brakes, and Ti is really much better than steel for an MTB.

Indeed. That's why we chose it for our tandem. Good stuff.

Mike needs to carry tandems too.

If I were remotely interested in a 26 hard tail, I'd be all over this as it is a great deal for the Ti frame and components. However, my next mtb will be a 29er SS for training.

I just got back from taking my kids to Disney World
Wow - 85 degrees in Orlando on Dec 7th

anyway, Kestrel had sent an Evoke frameset straight to my house
so here are my pictures [not great photos - BUT a better looking frame than I expected - very nice]

Later - there will be better photos posted by my staff
including the example bike build up

mike, will we be able to put money down through your stores? i'm going to be home in orange park in about a week and if i order this i'd rather just stop by and order it at your fleming island store and say hi to chris.

also, do you have any plans for a group buy 29" in the future?

Sorry
These deals are not available in our stores

We are expanding 29er line up from 3 models now - to 6 models this spring
to 9 models by late summer [including 853 and Ti versions]
so if we do a holiday offer next Dec - a 29er of some type will be in it.
