Winter's getting old.
Usually I love winter but this time it's just not what it used to be for some reason. The lack of snowmobiling probably covers about 90% of that reason, but hey. The cold, the coat and boots, the shoveling... bleh.
I get so depressed whenever I go downstairs. I see my bike scattered around the room in so many pieces, sigh, and turn around. That or I just open the boxes and look at the parts wishing I could be riding, or something. Go back upstairs and I see my car just sitting there as unused as my bike. Can't do anything with it until it gets warm, either (This is turning out waay more emo than intended)
At least I've got some stuff to look foreword to.
Finally getting rid of some of the original parts. Just waiting on a friend to bring me wheels and then I can start getting it together. I cannot wait for that.
Question #1: Levers. How much difference am I going to notice with some different ones? Any recommendations on a budget of, say, $20-$30? I currently have Shimano Rapidfire's, is it worth upgrading?
Question #2: Brake cables, I'll assume I should do this anyway. What to get? Is it was simple as taking the old ones out and putting the new in?

Ouch! Dad traded our '05 Ski-Doo MXZ 500SS for a Arctic Cat 4-stroke 2-up thing (Can't remember what it's called lol) in an effort to get my mom into the sport.. so it's just been them riding on the weekends. I miss the Rev However, I don't mind the weekends home alone!

Our 600 keeps up with the 8's no problem up to probably 60mph. The gearing's been knocked down a bit to get it out of the gate faster and it has a Cudney head, but otherwise stock. Less work than most of the 800's here.

You really only notice the difference on lakes where you can spread out and run WOT, and
even then its only a few MPH. I really like the SDI. Where is "here" for you.

With my grandma's (yes, you read that right) GSX 600.
Two totally different animals that achieve awesomeness in their own ways. I rode the GSX for a lot of last year due to my dad selling his MXZ 600.

Thinkin' I need to get the 600 out for some photo sessions.
Looks much like your 500ss but with a smaller windshield and a 6" riser block.
Friend of mine also just got a TNT, on the XP platform. Can't wait to try it

Winter sucks balls, I'm sick of it, considering moving somewhere where there's no winter. There's no where to bike, there's nothing to do outside, skiing sucks and is expensive, gets boring, there's barely any sun, gotta wear pounds of clothing covering you up, man I hate winter with a passion, must be 22 years of the northeast getting on my nerves, get me outta here

This winter has been awful for biking. This is my first season on studs and wouldn't you know it: tons of snow and high temps have meant a bunch of un-rideable trail days. It's been nothing but sticky, slippery slush. Oh well, better luck next winter. Until then I guess I'll have to "suffer" through summer. Crossing my fingers and hoping mud season is short...

My parents are out riding right now. I'm stuck in a town with nothing to do and no license and ALL my hobbies are cut off. My computer with alll my videos/music/games is dead, my camera is broken, and my bike is a pile of parts downstairs. Blah.

So I've made a decision.
I'm getting my rear wheel fixed. Hopefully my parents can take it to a shop tomorrow. I'll run my not-particularly-healthy front hub for a while and upgrade it sometime, probably in the summer. I want this freakin' thing in one piece lol.

In the last few days I've switched from winter-mode to not-winter mode. I've had enough of the snow. I'm glad to see the roads are looking more or less dry to may start doing some road rides soon. The mornings are still cool, though. This morning was -6C / 21F, but the days warm up to above freezing. We'll be heading towards warmer weather in the next little while

I hear you. We had a small snowfall this morning and I know that we always get at least one last big snowfall in the early parts of April. I look forward to mid-April as the probability of another big snowfall diminishes significantly by then. Just two more weeks.
