Crank question
So, I'm gonna start building up a surly karate monkey this week and I'm gonna run it as a singlespeed/fixed and I was wonder what crankset do you guys recommend..I'm broke so let's just keep it around $50-$130 bucks? can I get some decent around that much? I'd like to keep it as cheap as possible. thanks

Bikes: BiknBrian brand custom 26 inch commuter trekker, Cannondale F600 Single Speeded MTB, Nashbar Cro-Mo CX, some other bikes and parts that could be made into bikes.

Pricepoint.com has some single speed cranksets with outboard bearing bottom brackets close your price range. I'm not sure if an outboard style will work on that frame or not. I don't have any experience with these, but I've had issues with cartridge style BB's not lasting very long on my SS MTB. Outboard bearings should be stronger, though I'd look for one with a pinch bolt on the left crank arms I have an FSA on my road bike and the left arm actually has to be cemented in place making it more difficult to work on.
