wow, actually took the time to make things legible for the rest of us!
as for the fork i'd recommend buying a used fork. older bams and atom bombs can be had for around a bill. |
As mentioned you're a big rider. So, stay away from air shocks, stick with Coil sprung shocks.
The Duke is good, older Marzocchi's are even better! L8R |
You mean damping, raiyn?

Well being that your bike only has up to 90mm of rear travel, I'd stick with a fork under 100mm's. I'm hoping your not trying to turn this thing into anything else other than a good XC/Trail bike. If you do XC/Trail riding the Manitou Skareb would be a good fit.
Check out www.JensonUSA.com. Here: MANITOU SKAREB COMP FORK '03 $249 The replacement for the Mars cross-country race fork, the 2003 Skareb offers a reverse arch casting, coil spring, and 80mm of travel. Semibath lubrication and Manitou's "Evil Genius" seals. Claimed weight, 3.0-3.4 pounds. Travel: 80mm Weight: claimed 3.0-3.4 pounds Spring: Coil Damping: Quick Range Adjustments: Preload, Rebound Damping, Compression Damping Stanchion Tubes: Anodized aluminum. |
My fork, I know this is shameless advertising, but I honestly am doing this from the depths of my heart, so Its ambiguous whether im breaking forum rules.
the 2002 MXC is an air fork and its made by marzocchi which is an excellent high quality name. 100mm travel. mines $100 USD used with amost new lowers so that shouldnt break the bank. Wow, I feel unethical doing this... |
