My bike and my upcoming move

99 Schwinn Mesa GSX
04 MX Comp w/ ETA
F519 rims w/ LX hubs
LX crank, shifters/levers
Avid SD3 Brakes
Bontager FS2000 seat
Deore derailleurs
Titec stem and Bar
Tioga ACC Headset
2.1 Panaracer Trailblasters
POS pedals with toe clips

Planned upgrades,
Eggbeaters or Mallet
Front disk hub, and an Avid 6" mech
Some 2.1+ aggressive tires ( suggestions? )
Maybe a 2inch riser bar (raceface, easton or another titec)

Future upgrades,
throw all of the parts onto a 4-5" FS frame with a stable platform shock

Now on to the move part,
On the 13 of October, me and my Mom will be hopping in her truck and driving from Ontario, to Vancouver Island, BC (Near Victoria).

Im wondering what the riding will be like around that area, I would love a freeride bike for the awesome north shore trails or a urban/dj/trials type bike but I probably won't be able to get one until after I get a job and some $$$.

So, are there many XC trails around there?
Maybe I could hookup with some of you and you can show me some trails?

I'm really looking forward to this trip, Mountains, Riding, great fishing, great bud and mushrooms

Atleast my mom picked up a new truck for the trip (real nice 95 GMC Sierra SLE)
I'll try to get some pics of the truck and our 10 day drive.

Matt

Tires-Continental Verticals 26x2.3 on front, Continental explorer pro 26x2.1 on back, or a pair of 26x2.35 maxxis mobsters.

Try Maxxis Swamp things front and rear, they are 2.3's and have plenty of traction in the wet, and in deep poo poo. They are very light for the performance as well.

Thats a long ride but well worth it.

Vancouver Island eh?...well the trails there are north shore (some of them), some are traditional west coast single track, Victoria is renowned for two things in BC....trials riders (big urban skill scene) and djing (ever hear of a bmxer converted mountain biker called Bearclaw...his home jumps are on vancouver island)

Bud and Muschrooms...good time of year, mountains...have fun there are about 6 full on dh mountains within 6hrs of you for riding. If you are lookign for a tour go to www.nsmb.com . There are lots of island riders there.

Cheers and welcome to the west.

Vancouver Island? The north shore is on the mainland... you're not riding there without a ferry trip.

I've been out of the MTB scene for a while now but you should be able to get all the info and contacts you need at this site:
