Helmet & Pic's
Ok - looking to see what helmets you all have. And if you have a pic of you in it, that would be a plus. I am curious to see what the various helmets you have and how you look.. I think my right size is a medium, but the helmets I try on, seem to be huge (appearance wise).. Makes me feel like I have a mushroom head... What are some sleek good looking ones?
edit reason: apparently hooked on phonics didn't work for me

Size of helmets that fit will vary significantly, both between brands and within brands. I can wear anything from a medium to an XL, depending on the helmet.
And generally (well okay, always) helmets are bigger than your head which, consequently, will make your head look bigger. So don't worry about it. When you're on/around your bike, no one cares.

I have, according to the tape measure, a 59cm head but my hat size varies to anything up to 63cm depending on the shape of the helmet. Go into the LBS try on the helmets and buy the one with most snug, COMFORTABLE fit (minor pressure points can become extremely painful/annoying during a long ride).

Helmet is for protection, not style. Buy the one that will protect you.

"Looks" are obviously a personal opinion. I personally think the Giro Xen offers great protection given that it covers the back of the head more than regular helmets. I find my Xen to be very, very comfortable with a good amount of ventiliation. The bonus is that I find it looks good, too.

OP, right now I'm using a Bell Alchera. It's a "road" helmet, but I like the fit. They're relatively inexpensive as well.

I have a tall noggin, I'm cursed by this fact since no helmet fits worth a damn.
Bell X-ray comes close in regards to sitting lower on the head and not looking quite like a mushroom, but helmet manufacturers clearly have a long way to go in regards to this "universal fit" BS.
The Xen looks like a mushroom so it doesn't exactly utilize that "extra" protection, ymmv. I've personally been wanting to try the Fox Flux, hoping it'll sit lower than the Xen...

As per your request, I resized your image. I just rehosted it on my Photobucket account for ya.

The facial expression isn't ideal, but oh well.
It's a 2007 Giro Pneumo. It's a road helmet, and kind of expensive, but it fits my head well and looks good IMO.
Eh, here's one with a side-ish view.... And a better look on my face. It's a fairly sleek helmet, but it may or may not fit your head.

I just picked up the Lazer Genesis XC for this season:
It has a unique retention system that I thought felt good when trying on. I really don't want to test it, but I'm sure I will sometime this year.

I like the feel/look of the "turtle shell" helements better. I also feel they offer better protection, but I doubt it does.
I like the thicker plastic shell, It doesn't crack as easy.

I really don't notice it, as that's the only helmet I've worn. Of course, in the Georgia heat it may be a different story, I'll be sure to see this summer.
I just don't like the feel of the normal helmets, I feel safer in the turtle shell style.

I roll with the FOX Flux, black in color, to protect my dome. I like it. and like most everyone else here... I feel that it fits well and looks best to me......... Bottom line is, bicycling lids don't look great on anyone....... it is what it is, and it is necessary!
