Second Legit bike...

So, I have been riding a few years, around 5 or so, at least in terms of "legitimate" mountain biking. I have been riding various bikes, mainly because the ones my friends dad builds (ebay master, that guy) are way better than mine. I own a Trek 4300, around 4 years old, and thats my only bike sans my 1970 Schwinn Continental, and its A)Too small and B) not exactly decent in terms of quality. What I need are some suggestions for a new/used/whatever bike that could handle some All Mountain, but none of those insane downhill rigs some of you guys setup. A few I guess I would consider is the Heckler (Thats what I rode down in Moab last year, some 199- model. It was a delight, especially on the Portal and Gold Bar Rim). Anything thats sort of in that type of category (not too heavy, full sus). Price range really is $0-$2000, but I guess any options would be helpful.

Much thanks,
Shmef

I am a fan of simple single pivot bikes.I've spent some time on the Heckler,it seems to be a solid ride. You should be able to find a decent rig for around 2 grand.

Click on the completes for the Heckler and with the D AM kit, you have a MSRP of $1999. Should be able to get it cheaper at a LBS that deals in SC.

Thanks, I'll check that out. It was a spring one back when I rode it, though it was pretty damn used. Either way, I'll see what I can find on craigslist as well in the dept.

anything in this vein people can think of?
