Blur or Fuel?

Can anyone offer any comparisons between the Trek Fuel EX 9 (new one with the R1i setup) and the Santa Cruz Blur LT? I'm thinking about one or the other as my next ride. I'm also holding out to see how the new Blur LT ends up.

AMB did a test comparing the Blur LT to the new Fuel EX........7? among other bikes.

Either way the Trek came out on top. But thats just a mag review. Everyone seems to be fapping on both these new bikes lately.

The Fuels have failed in the recent past, prolly has something to do with the negelct Trek's mtb's got during and after Lancemania. I personally like the blur a bit more, from what I have had the privilage to ride, but thats just in the fit department. So, I guess there pretty equal, and a whole lot of faff ends up about them anyway.

I'd go with a Fuel. I worked in a shop that sold both and we saw a lot more problems with the Blurs. The pivots wore out and creaked in no time. Santa Cruz has upgraded their pivot bearings in the last few years, but I would still opt for the Fuel. They ride wonderfully.

Santa Cruz sucks because it, along with Transition, DMR and White Brothers, is owned by Specialized, which is secretly Presidented by Tony Blair.

I have an EX7, and it works just fine. However, it's nothing to fap on like MTBA has for the last 3 issues. I don't know much about the Blur, and I've never ridden one either.

However, I would go with a different bike than the Fuel if I had a choice. To much travel, to heavy and not sexy enough.

It really sucks that you didn't get what you really wanted. I feel sorry for you. Why don't you go bash up your bike with a sledghammer and tell your parents that it broke. Then they can get you something better.

Oh my! How hilarious you are! That was ABSOULTELY called for, and you come off as someone who has excellent reading comprehension and social skills!

No. I had been pining over a Fuel forever, and I got it. I know realize that, in retrospect, I would be better off with a dedicated XC bike versus a trail bike. Is it still a great bike? Do I ride it all the time? Yes! But it's not the best bike for me. Now, why don't you tell us some more hilarious witticisms, based off of NOTHING?

The funny part is you. I was being serious. From the impression you gave off in an earlier thread, your parents are willing to make you happy. If this bike is not the best for you now, then why aren't you discussing another one with them?

Truly your parents would understand. Your father rides, correct? Then he would know the difference.

So tell me how this is based on nothing? Is what I said in this post not true?

You were not being serious. Don't even try to play that crap. Victim see's it, and so do I.

Read your post. It screams sarcasm everywhere. My father rides, but not on even a casual level, so they would not undterstand. And now that he's easing into retirement, there's no way I'm getting freebies anymore.

I'll say it again, your previous post was intended to belittle me as a spoiled child. Go. Away.

Why do you hate the English?

To the OP, I would take a good test ride on both and see what feels better. Ignore brands and go for feel! It's not what you ride, it's that you ride.

Just to add my worthless 2 cents, our LBS just got a brand new fuel in...
it looks so freaking awesome, but at 2400, I wont even touch it.
Its also on the inside cover of the 2008 buyers guide from Mountain Bike Magazine.
But I know NOTHING about dual suspensions besides that they're to expensive for me right now, lol

I'd rather get a santa cruz blur. Many paint options and build kits to choose from too.

...i base my conclusions solely on the fact that bontrager doesn't make race-lite frames because of a certain company that rhymes with "drek."

What a fine conclusion that is.

Specialized sucks.
