i thought it might be an error but i called them and they said it was not. i thought the non-removable pins were chromoly...but oh well

The only problem I have with the stainless and chromoly versions are that the pins are cast as part of the pedal and not replaceable. Both are as close to indestructible as you can get but they (at least the chromos for sure) are heavy enough to anchor small craft in a gale.

I have the Stainless Steel (With replaceable pins) Mentals, but I would not recommend the these without replaceable pins. Like dminor said, "heavy enough to anchor small craft in a gale". One would be better off with the MeatHook or Magnesium versions at almost 1/2 the weight.
