Chain Tensioner

Anyone know of a cheap chain tensioner that doesn't require a bashguard?
And has anyone heard of these - https://www.pricepoint.com/detail/168...e-Set-2008.htm

Seems fair enough? Do I need any special zip ties or how does it attach to the fork?

Thanks guys have a good one

Heim 3-Guide does not require a bash guard and is shiftable over all three rings. Ingenious setup that indeed works.

Truvativ makes the Shiftguide that works similarly.

If you are wanting a chainstay-mount tensioner, look for a Kore Chain Reactor or even see if anyone still has an NOS DCD Mr. Crud.

I think that the cables were unrelated to the OP's original topic.

Thanks d. Yes the cables were a separate question.

The heim 3 guide... how does it mount? My frame doesn't have mounting holes like some do down by the crank.

So this little doohicky mounts to like on the bar above your chain where you put your frame protector? And it works with every gear still?

Yes, the Kore Chain Reactor mounts "on the bar where you put your frame protector." For the record, that is called the chainstay (or chain stay). The "bar above your chain" is called the seatstay (or seat stay) - - in reference to where the struts run from the dropout.

The Heim 3-guide mounts behind the drive-side bottom bracket shell flange, so there is no need for the mounting tabs you mentioned. Because it's stainless steel, it's thin enough to not throw your chainline off because of mountint that way.
