Do you bike with protective glasses?
 

I've been getting stuff in my eyes from biking and am thinking about trying some clear glasses. I'm guessing that the glasses will annoy me more than the particles. Could be a good for safety though. I caught a wood chip in the eye the other day from riding behind someone.

100% of the time, road or MTB. I wear safety glasses from Lowes. I have a clear pair and a tinted pair (99% UV). They are like $8 each and are built to take real impact. I could not be happier. I have stuff hit them all the time on the trails and your eyes are just not something to mess with.

Yep, I don't leave the house without my Wiley-Xs.

If it is sunny, I use sun glasses, if it is dark, I use safety glasses that have the same shape as sunglasses. I never even think about them being on, but I do enjoy pain free eyes :-)

I wear a pair of native sunglasses that are not tented real dark. they work, but I take them off around 30 minutes before dusk if I am still riding

They are pretty sweet. Plus you like like a weird sort of astronaut/eurotrasher mix when you wear them.

When I use the xc lid, I use a set of Native sunglasses. For eye protection when I have the full faced helmet on when I use the natives or a set of Oakley Goggles.

Yep - protective glasses can do something like that. A busted up or cut nose or eyebrows. However, they can save your eyes. Your nose and forehead can take a ton more impact and damage than can an eye. In other words, I will take a busted up face over damaged eye 100 times out of 100.

I wear safety glasses not only biking, but all waking hours. In '98 I lost an eye riding MTB- low speed washout on graveled corner, went down and by golly a stick skewered my eyeball. Dang!

For all of you who don't use eye protection when riding- if you lose an eye, I suppose ya still got one left.

It does kinda suck to be missing one, what with loss of depth perception, peripheral vision, etc.. At this point, the scary thing is the thought of losing the other one, too. Hasn't stopped me from riding though, I love it too damn much.

I prefer wearing glasses not just for safety but it just feels better than wind in your eyes.

I wear a set of perscription safety glasses which I had from an old job where safety glasses were required. Never ride without 'em! Around here it's pretty common to take a pine tree branch to the face and picking pine needles out of your eye would not be a particularly fun trailside repair.

I have some safety glasses from work that I wear. They're polarized and shatter proof. Work great to block getting a eyeful of tree branches

Also, i ride with eye protection when riding everything but DH, because i don't have a set of goggles for the fullface. I'll get there, when I'm not broke......

Don't mess with the best-Oakley. I've got a couple pairs, Gascan and canteens and i'm looking to get a paiur of either radars or m frames for baseball and biking

Remember, it is not just the pebbles, branches, beetles, gnats and spiders, that fly into your eyes as you ride. Wind dries your eyes out quickly, and makes you squint profusely, making them 'tired' faster.

I wear the cheap-o Lexan clear safety glasses with UV protection - I think they were $4.79 at Wally-World. Sorry, Oakley.

When I ride on the road, amongst cars, almost every time, a car tire flicks up a small pebble, and it hits me or my safety glasses - plink! When this happens, even once to you, you will smile, and be so glad you wear glasses. Oh, and dark sunglasses are not good - I ride some trails covered with a thick canopy of leaves - dark glasses can 'blind' you in a valley of a tight cluster of trees, or if you get caught out in the evening.

I have a pair of Smith Bazooka Sliders, with a bunch of lenses. I wear them whenever I ride in the woods or on the road.
