HI!!
I want to buy the Trek Fuel 7.0. fs ('08)
Does anyone have this bike?
I have tried it and i think it keeps its effectivity despite of its kind (fs)
Originally I had decided to buy a ht (Scott scale 50) but since I ride on rugged terrain I decided to have a look to fs bikes.
Do you think is a correct choise for me?
What advice would you give to me about?

I still love my '05 Fuel EX8 and the '08's have many improvements so it should be a winner/keeper! I am waiting a few more years for more improvements before upgrading.

What other FS bikes have you tried? I'm having a hard time decifering "effectiveity despite its kind"... What kind of riding do you do?

I have an 08' EX7. Although it's a good bike, there is better out there. Define "rugged". My local trails are plenty rooty and rocky, but I think that the bike has too much travel and weighs too much. Why not look at 4" travek bikes like the Top Fuels, et cetera?

I cannot find the top fuel series at my local seller, fuel ex only....
Do you think the rider's power is transferred 100% on the weel?

By loss I assume you mean does pedaling force get absorbed by the suspension, right?

I think most modern FS bikes have done a good job with the "pedal bob" problem. I know my C'dale Rush feels like a rocket ship, not a hint of losing pedaling force to the suspension.

How "mild" are your leaps, in terms of feet? Are you rolling off things the height of table tops or kitchen counters? If you were to stand next to one of your leaps, how high up would it come on you? Your knee? Waist? Shoulders? Over your head?

The largest drop I ride is probably knee height or below (on most rides I don't do anything that big though). I consider my riding as "Cross Country", and the Fuel EX is more bike than I'd need for that kind of riding. XC bikes tend to have less suspension travel but also tend to be lighter than All Mountain bikes like the EX. The Trek Top Fuel may work better for that kind of riding.

Not even a high end road bike will do 100%, but in general modern rear suspensions do a very good job in this area.

Your retailer may not have a Top Fuel in stock, but I'd bet they could get one. Or you could find a place that does have one. Most of the other major bike makers also offer XC bikes. My Cannondale Rush is a good example.

I just got a Fuel EX8. ('08)
I love it. I don't need 5" of rear travel but it's plush.
You can lock out the shock when you don't need it.

no bike is 100%, of course. no FS bike is going to be even close to it really.. but you can use a suspension with lockout, and the Fuel EX is very efficient.
I have a 9.5, and I love it. I looked at a 6.5 when I bought mine, and liked that one, too.

I think you'd be pleased with the 7, but in the end that's up to you, and trying it is the best way to know.

I have an 06 fuel ex7 .. it has the same suspension design as the current top fuel... the new ex series is supposed to have a superior suspension... if your looking for more efficiency the gary fisher hi fi may be a better choice as it is lighter than the fuel.

I want one too! But I'm thinking about a 29er. Is that so wrong?
