Hi All,

I'm new to this monster of a forum!! I'm also new to the UK- have an ancestry visa, and started work in Wales a couple of weeks ago. I'm also pining for my old Klein Pulse Race, which is back home in Brisbane, Aus.

Anyway, the question...

I've got the burning urge to get out into the hills behind Swansea, and have been looking at acquiring a bike that will do the job here, then to take home as an alternative to the Klein.

PROBLEM with the Whyte 46 - back in Ozz, doing any distance event, I carry two bidons, and a hydration pack - South East Queensland is hot riding, even in winter. How can I attach a water bottle to this (otherwise fantastic option) bike?

Try

rear seat tube mud flap
saddle mounted water bottle cages - similar to triathletes/time trialists but you'll need to hunt around for both a sturdy mount and bottle cages that won't eject the bottle at the first bump.

or

fanny pack/bum bag that holds two water bottles worn in conjunction with your camelback

I think I saw someone once who had bottles mounted to their handle bar, near the stem. Interesting idea though the weight may interfere with the handling a bit.

aaah man, you should be well happy round swansea. the gower has plenty of trails especially in the central part between reynoldstown oxwich & south of the airport. not a huge area like central wales but much fun in the summer bombing round for the day between beaches. good surfing at the west end too (llangennith).

sheep sh*t & boulders.... yeah, like the south downs but with more rocks. enjoy!

Hi & thanks all for the tips. I still have not bought a bike, but drifting towards either a Superlight, Heckler, or Blur, thinking they'd be better as edurance bikes for MTBO, and marathon stuff.

Looking forward to playing around S. Wales!!!
