Shifter...Saint / XT / Attack
Since I got my XT Shadow...I'm thinking about putting a different shifter on my 1x9. I've been running an LX shifter since 2005 and it works well, yet something inside me says I need an XT level shifter.
Here's what I know so far:
Saint - Stubby, small, simple, no gear indicator. ( I love simplicity...not much hangin off that MonkeyBar)
2009 Saint Shifter is kinda Bling and looks like it offers an inboard or outboard mounting.
XT - Less plastic than my LX, dual release, gear indicator (it's gotta feel better than my LX)
Attack - All thumbs, gear indicator, appears like an X.7 lever. (Is this a 2007-8 X.9'ish feeling unit, or is it more X.7 or 2006 x.9 feeling lever?)
Questions:
How do they feel (snappy, smooth) / is it instant shift (SRAM'esque) , or does it shift when you release the button (typical Shimano'esque)
I would like opinions from those who have used the 2008 versions of these three. Thanks yall
Edit: Saint is not instant release, XT is instant release, I'm assuming the Attack is instant release
Maybe I should wait for 2009 Saint Shifter: https://www.bikemagic.com/news/article/mps/uan/6169
I like the shifter, but alot of the other crap is kinda ugly.

The first Saint you posted is currently on my FR bike - it's bomber, with a nice low profile and consistent performance. A bit heavy though.
I've also got the new XTR with instant release. I'm still figuring out how to best utilize that feature, but I do like it. Adjustable perch FTW, and no silly indicators either.

Hmm...that narrows it down a bit. Now it's down to XT vs. Saint. Saint is $75, XT is $65. I'm assuming the XT gear indicator can be removed?? I hate those things.

You know how normally if you pull the trigger and hold it, it won't shift until you let go? Instant release lets it fire as soon as you touch the trigger. No lag.
And since you brought it up I guess I should clarify that what I'm trying to get accustomed to is not the instant release feature per se, but rather the fact that the trigger can be initiated by both pulling with the index finger (as usual) as well as by pushing it forward with the thumb (as with the shifter paddle).
Yes, I agree that is outrageous.
