Funny narrow tire bikes...

http://www.donsbikes.com/gt.htm

I was surfing the web and googling GT mountain bikes, and this page came up. Besides the cool looking vintage I-drives, at the very top of the page there are these BMX looking things with road looking tires. I was just wondering what on earth they were for.

it's for dirt track racing...I use to do it as a kid on a Diamond Back Viper. Can't remember who made my rims but they were skinny like that

I remember those bikes.

Way back in the day when I was about 12-13 "now almost 38" I was really into BMX. I rode your standard BMX bike. But I remember going to races that had the pros and semi pros racing and seeing kids younger than my friends and myself racing on those bikes. They had bigger rimes and almost road like tires, and the kids that rode them where alot shorter and younger than myself. Never did figure out what the deal was with them.. Now i want to know. Can someone please answer this???

They're known as a Mini in BMX racing. They're usually ridden by riders in the single digit age classes.

-scroll about halfway down for an explanation of BMX frame sizes-
