Rock Guards
Im looking for one that doesn't make you take the top spoket off your bike to install it.

Just get one and take off your top ring, if you need the bash ring in the first place, then you probably wont be goin fast enough to use the big wheel (or chainring)!!

I will be going fast so I want to keep my top ring all the time.

well.....i guess you could get longer bolts and then the bash ring could be bolted to the big ring. What kind of riding are you doing anyway? Log rides and rock gardens I assume right? Ask yourself.........do u REALLY need it or is it going on the bike for looks???

Rarely do I need to have the big chainring. I'm going to buy a bashguard soon to replace the big ring, as soon as I bash it up good. 
Now I see they have bashguards with big gnarly teeth on them, what's up with that? Is that to claw your way over logs or something?:confused:

That's basically it, Bash guards were initially used by trials riders. The teeth on the bash guard helps give them traction when moving from atop a log!
Oh yeah, they look cool too! Always have to add the cool factor to an accessory.

I use that ring quite often, but also often I misjudge the height of a fallen tree or rock and therefore do a bit o'bashing. Removing it isn't really an option, i'd like a fourth one on there if I could.

I'm all for Rock Guards or "Bash Rings".
I fixed too many bent chainrings this summer for riders that abused their machines and I saw a lot of damaged, broken chainring teeth.
From what I can tell, no matter what size chain ring you have, if you are hopping over a log or something and you miss, your chainring is going to pay the price.
