Which direction to go?
Ive picked up a used Giant Rainer SE a few weeks ago and have been having a blast on it. Ive started hitting some of the local trails pretty heavy and I definitely think this is going to become a major hobby of mine. Now my question is, at this point would I be best set to just stick to this bike, as is, for a while, look into a new one(at most, Id be willing to spend 800) or look into upgrading components?
I havent started doing anything crazy..aka, jumping off of stuff...but Im definitely working my way towards it, and Im just not sure how this bike will hold up. Heres a link to the bike info...https://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/B...r+SE&Type=bike
I know the shock is a weak link, but I dont know if a best approach would be buying a new shock by itself or picking up a whole new bike.

I'd suggest replacing the brakes -- I have the same bike, which I just pulled out of mothballs, and the Formula MD-1's are really quite pathetic. I'll be replacing mine with Avid BB-7's ASAP.

I would go with a used, late model shock off of ebay ( assuming you can install it yourself) or nothing with your current bike and save up for a new bike.
