Help! Fork leaking snot-like oil!
I've been playing around with my 2001 SID SL. For some reason today when I went to put more air pressure into it, it was finnikey to get air in, and when I took the sock pump off some oil had leaked out. It was only a thin coating on the top chamber, but on the bottom one a noticible amount of snot-like oil came out, enough to cover one side of my finger for about an inch.
So...whats up with this? Thanks for any replies.

Didn't flip the bike over to fill the bottom one, huh? I think my manual (revelation) said to flip the bike upside down to adjust the negative air chamber. Not sure about the positive one (top) though, how much is a thin coating?

It was flipped...the night before i was playing with it and it was horizontal when i pumped it...not sure if that would make a difference.
A small amount on the top...like enough to coat the valve of the pump and have a bit build up at the top.
The bottom though...it was like it blew its nose on me.

It's normal. There should be a small amount of oil in the positive air chamber to lube and seal the piston. During use, a small amount of oil usually leaks past the piston seal and enters the negative chamber. That's why it was forced out the lower fill valve during pump removal.
One of the best preventative maintenance measures you can do for the SID is to deflate the positive (top) chamber, remove the top cap, and check the quantity and condition of the oil. There isn't much in there, only 3 to 5 cc of 15 weight suspension oil. The SID service manual suggests doing this once a month to keep the dual air system working perfectly.
