My response would have been something along the lines of: "Does your bike have computer controlled suspension? Then shut your piehole, this baby is from the future!"

Beautiful cake and scenery, although I don't see much evidence of mountain biking...

    Hi gastro,

I would like point out the Rough-Stuff Fellowship is off-road cycle touring club which was founded in 1955 and the South Lakes Group has two rides per month which about two thirds on road and third off-road where we ride to the tracks. The other two rides per month are about two thirds off-road and third on-road plus starting point for the ride is about half hour to hour drive in car from Lancaster.

On this ride we did about 48 miles from starting point of the ride, plus two of riders rode to the start! If anybody wants to find any more information about the Rough-Stuff Fellowship checkout the national website at http://www.rsf.org.uk

Thanks for the photos. Three years over there, including 2 trips to the lake district, wasn't nearly long enough.

What people don't realize, the last picture of the canal with the road beside it. There is a whole network of canals that were the primary means of getting goods to market prior to the industrial revolution. That roadbed was for workhorses pulling the longboat/barges.

Also, the unlabeled picture between the tree and ford pictures. Notice the directional sign at the break in the brick wall. There to document the hiking path between villages. Such history.
