How to lock the suspension on Jamis Diablo LE?

I got a good deal on a used MTB (Jamis Diablo LE) a while ago, and I'm going to use it in a road race. It was suggested that I lock the front suspension. Does anyone know how to do that? I'm fairly new to the biking world so use small words and type slowly. Thanks.

Well, since you will be on the road you will want a more aerodynamic riding position sooo...

Undo the fork caps, pull out the springs (if the fork uses air let it all out), put the caps back on and then use a few zip ties to hold the lower crown to the arch thats connecting the fork tube things. That should do it

If you typed slowly it would look like

    g

    etc etc etc

    Got it.

Seriously, not a joke. There is a local 100 mi race coming up and I don't want to buy a new bike for it. Just trying to make it to the finish line as a goal.

Trust me, you won't want to ride a mountain bike for a 100 mile road race unless you're crazy.

I'd assume he's talking about the older HT line (I hope)

I bought some 26X1.25 road tires, they were cheaper than a new bike. Like i said earlier, it's just a goal. I don't have any illusions of grander, I just want to finish the 100 miles and call it done.

How old is it? The pre-carbon Diablo models had rigid forks... Must have been added on later. What brand/model is the fork?

It's heavy as hell, definitely not carbon fiber. The fork is a Rock Shox Quadra 21R if that helps.

Should be a pretty nice steel frame...

No lockout on the fork...you could crank the preload adjusters down as far as they go...might help a little.
