Help ID this Specialized Bike please
saw this on Craigslist, the guy has NO idea what it is, or where to look, it's sort of a jaunt from here to there, so I wanted to se if the bike is worth the $20 he's asking, considering I know I'm in for at least a rear wheel
he said the bike is a "z works" or "the works", the closest I found was "s- works" and those dont look like this, so it's not or it's a much older model..
thanks in advance for your help

I would buy that immediately for $20 if it's legit. I believe that's a high end Specialized S-Works chromoly- probably 1991 or so. The shifters appear to be Suntour XC Pro, and those things are worth $50-100 alone. The finish on the front cantilever brakes also appear to be make those Suntour XC Pro. Sorry to sound negative, but since the rear wheel is missing (maybe locked to a pole somewhere), the price so low, and the seller doesn't know anything about a bike that vintage and expensive, perhaps it might be stolen. That's just a presumption and not meant to accuse anyone. Of course there could be reasons for the missing back wheel like damaged in a crash.

So, it's 3 hours from you . . . assuming 60 mph, that's a 360 mile round trip. If what you're driving gets a respectable 30 mpg, that's 12 gallons of petrol, which you will spend in excess of $48 to pursue. So you are saying that clapped out old frame is worth $70 to you?
