Thats sort of strnage tho. I've seen people use department store bikez on REAL trails for years... Maybe that bike was chain sawed open :S

Bikes: My primary bike is a Schwinn Homegrown HT with a 2002 Manitou Six Deluxe (Not of the POS variety) and XT comps, my roadie is an 80s vintage Trek 1000 with 105 comps, and I'm working on building a hucking machine.

Depends what you do to a bike, or even with it. How many "Good" Mountain bike frames have you seen severely bent in the magazines, that "just broke as I was riding along". You land wrongly just one too often, or without skill, and any frame will/could sustain Damage.
That doesn't condone the Manufacturers out there that make and sell crap mountain bikes, But it does depend on how you treat any quality of mountain bike, as to how long it will last

I think that one of the reasons that these wal-mart bikes break is that they LOOK really burley...especially the ones with the "mozo" dual-crown forks and and the "monoque" frames...They look very similar to real DH bikes, and I think that people don't realize that the bike was actually designed for freeride or DH use...

Cool.....thats one clean break....it looks like the weld broke(top)...then the rest followed....lol...Im surprized i havent snapped my canadian tire frame
