First Downhill experience

So yesterday I was at the local MTB trail set with my friend and we decided to follow the most advanced trail all the way to the top of these hills, and what did we find there? A downhill course! It was pretty intense and there were some sections I had to bypass (barrel jumps), but overall I would think I did pretty well for a newbie. It was kind of unnerving going as fast as I did, and there was a section of old creekbed with banked turns up the side and its ~3 ft wide going FAST so I was a little scared. I made it through alive though. Its called the Big Creek section of the course if anyone else has ridden it in Atlanta.

Good stuff, eh?

There's a rush to be had with throwing down a fast line on single track trail... I love it. Once you get dialed in with regards to balance, braking and what not you can go faster. Get your confidence up and you'll be addicted. Once in a while that little idea in the back of my head creeps up with 'what would happen if you go down at this speed on this trail' but that just ruins it... ride smart and within your skill set and progress from there. Nothing like earning your downhill.

I enjoy skiing as well and going fast on a mountain bike in the summer months gives me a similar rush... picking your own line with split second decisions... that and time out in the sticks.

Its connected up to the roswell greenway on Old Alabama Rd. a little north of Exit 7 on GA 400. I go there pretty often so look out for a black hardrock with bar ends if you go

Hows the rest of the trail? Is it worth the 2hour+ trip? up there and then the 2+ hour back?

Interesting... I've got family in Decatur and Marietta, never thought to see what trails were close by when I went down there.
