SS- Multispeed?
 

How difficult is it to go from a singlespeed setup to an 8 Speed? I know you need a cassette, a derailleur, a cable, and shifters, but is that it? Do you need new hubs or anything else? Thanks.

...An 8-speed cassette is a lot bigger than most freewheels. If it's a singlespeed frame, you probably can't add multiple speeds.

The manufacture may have bent the frame for 8spd and just added spacers for SS use, but I'm doubting it.

What about bikes like the Kona Stuff that were originally multispeed, then converted to singlespeed? How much work would it take to get it back to multi-speed?

As long as its the same back wheel, you should be able to use a freewheel remover, and then just use a cassette tool to put on your new cassette, or have your LBS do it. Attach your rear derailleur, cable, and shifter. Set your high and low limits, make sure your cable tension is right in all speeds, and it should be ready to ride! Make sure you have all the gears before taking it out for a ride.

Buy a closeout Saint rear wheel and a Saint rear derailleur and shifter.

if it still has the splined rear wheel and is just using an adapter for the singlespeed .. you use the cassette tool (in most cases) to remove the adapter and drop a cassette in it's place ... if it has replaceable drop outs you may have to get a geared set if the other owner removed them ...

You will ride the ss, you will love the ss.

If not, you just need a new wheel if your current hub is ss only, if not just remove the cog and spacers and throw on a cassette and a deraillieur and shifters.
