Bike Upgrade

I am looking into an upgrade. I currently have a Specialized Hardrock Sport. I have been looking at the Cannondale F7 disc, Jamis Trail X 3, and was introduced to a Giant by the salesman at the shop. I do trail and road biking (no town commuting) Does anyone have any advice?

unless your frame is a POS, cracked or older than dirt just upgrade the bike you have. the bikes you listed are not much of an upgrade, if at all from your current bike. yes they have disc brakes, but at that price point V's are usually better.

thats good advice. i was looking to spend around $500. my frame is in great shape, but the components suck. so you think for the $500, i could scrap my old components and start all over with my frame? Quality parts...disc brakes, rapid fire shifters...everything? Thanks for replying
