Yukon Fx

I was just wondering if anyone has tried the yukon fx. I would like a review from someone that has had the bike please not from what they have heard on the internet. Thank you. This is one of the bikes I was looking at along with a gt hardtail that I can't quite remeber the full name of. Any feedbakc would be appreciated.

I can only tell you from a test ride that made me regret having the '07 hardtail model. The FX felt great, comes with a slightly better fork. If you're just getting into the sport this would probably make a nice entry level ride with more than enough room for upgrades should you go that route.

ok so you would only recomend it for beginers? I am definately not a begginer so I if this is true I need to look into a hard tail because that would be the only thing with better components under 1000 dollars. Anyone else have any experence with the giant yukon fx?

It depends on the riding you're doing. I only assumed you were a beginner. Giant makes a fantastic bike, I have 3 (down from 4) and love every one of them. I don't really have enough experience mountain biking, I'm mostly a roadie that supplements mtb. So, I'm sorry, not much help to you.

Okay I actually have a Yukon FX but only for about a week, but I am a former bike mechanic and have worked on MTB,s since 92.I paid $750 for it and as far as ride quality and handling it is everything MBA said it was.It is truly amazing what you can ride through with this bike. The frame is not the standard Trance type of frame in that it has a beefier rear triangle and asymmetrical chain stays i.e. the left one is higher than the right one.The biggest drawback is the weight, which is over 30 lbs. The crank set is very heavy and square taper as is the BB but also easily replaceable.Wheels are decent 32 hole brake are bottom line but work fantastic, but are a little hard to adjust as only one pad is adjustable. Drive train is 8 speed SRAM with a Shimano FD and again bottom line but works great.Fork is again bottom line Dart 2 works great but very heavy(5.5lbs).All in all a great bike for the money, but if I had it to do over again I would probably opt for the Cheapest trance at $11.75 or whatever you can get it for if you can get it at all
