New FS bike research for XC

I've started looking for a new bike and have concentrated primarily on FS. So far I have tried and liked (sorted by pref so far):

Santa Cruz Superlight (R XC build)
Cannondale Rize 4
Specialized Stumpy Elite

I'm aiming more for a bike that will be good to start racing on next year (XC only - price range from $2k to $2700). As far as comparing bikes, I thought my test rides of the Superlight and Rize were pretty similar, but when I got back and looked at the specs, I see that the rize has considerably more travel than I'll want/need. The Elite had a nice ride and had the option of rear lockout, which the other two did not have.

Should I track down a rush or scalpel? Do either of those price out similar to the rize 4? Other thoughts?

Also tried a Felt Virtue 4, but I didn't really care for the ride as much. One shop that has trek/gf only had hardtails, so far I could see (and the Trek store would need to order the Trek bikes I was looking for). I may still take the money that I want to spend on these bikes and just get a high-end hardtail, but I'm mostly lending towards FS.

Thanks!

Superlight is winning right now. Pretty much no shops here have Giant or the Anthem (or well, three shops do not have them), which is why it's not really on my list (also, it's only barely cheaper than the superlight). Shop is checking on a color option on the bike, but I may purchase this week!

I did try a Rush, albeit a size small, to get a feel for the lefty fork.
