Northrock XC9

So i dont know if any ones ever heard of this bike of brand. Well i saw it at a Costco store. The price is $550, its a Hardtail with Deore LX components. It has a Ritchey Seatpost, Handlebar and stem. Also has Avid BB5 brakes front and back. The wheels are made by WTB, and has joytech hubs. From the looks it seems to a steal to at that price with those components, Would it a good idea to purchase as my first mountain bike? Any info would be great.

Almost forgot...It has a 100mm Marzocchi MZ Racefork

It's actualy deore equipped with just an LX rear. That they call it an LX equipped" bike is kind of a joke.

Still, those are some pretty nice components for 550. Obviously though you're not getting the support of a real bike shop, and I wouldn't exactly trust costco to put together a bike safely. So it would be worth looking at bikesdirect stuff as a reasonably comparison.

Ok, Ill look into it, My dad has a friend whos been mountain biking for like 20yrs, been on a couple or rides with him and was immediatly hooked, said if i did get it that he'd make sure everything was assembled and in tune they way its supposed to be. I know most of the components on the bike. But ive had some trouble finding info on the fork, i know Marzocchi is a reputable brand, jus having trouble finding that exact model.

I'll just throw this out to ya. You can pick up a '09 Specialized Hardrock(orange bike in sig) for $550. The fork isn't much but if you're just staring out it'll do.

Yeah theres also a bike I just saw on Bikes Direct. A Windsor Cliff 4900.
Deore Front Derailleur
XT Rear Derailleur
Tektro Mechanical Disk Brakes
Rock Shox Dart 2 Fork
Alex Double Wall Rims with WTB tires
Truvativ Triple Peive Crankset

XC9 Review

After doing some research on the XC9 I found this detail overview :
https://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.ph...ight=northrock

From what I saw the bike frame is good quality, major components and the price makes for an incredible buy. The only problem is finding one. Best of luck.

Here's a link to Northrock's site. https://www.northrockbikes.com
