Yeah, Rob Warner (the commentator) is a piece of work. He did all the World Cup DH announcing too. Just think how cool you'll sound at your next group ride when you say to your buds "dude, I totally napalmed that last section."

There are no gates. The way I understand it they all are free to choose their own lines except that they have to hit a few certain obstacles like the monster canyon gap. They are scored on the lines they pick and the tricks they perform.

I am pretty sure there are certain gates they must hit (I think there are only a couple) but I may be wrong.

Edit: One of these videos had some reference to gates, I think.
