Help with getting a new FS XC frame
About a year ago I got into MTBing from being a road cyclists for quite some time. I actually ended up buying a used HT bike from a friend that had a bike that he wasn't using and love the change from road biking. Now I am feeling the itch of moving into a FS frame. I have come across a good deal on an Intense Cycles Spider XVP frame. I was curious if anyone has any experience with this frame or the company. I tried doing a search but came up empty handed. Reading up on the frame and company it seems like a great frame, and I really like the design they put into the rear suspension. If you have any comments let me know.

Intense is one of the better frame makers out there, but the design of the rear suspension on the newer models (i.e. the spider) doesn't suit everyone. Look into reviews of the Santa Cruz blur.

What does a Spyder go for anyway? What kind of money are you looking to spend? What kind of riding are you looking to do?

The frame for the Spyder would cost be ~$1100. The SC Blur XC looks like another solid bike as well for the ridding I do; singletracks/trails, fire roads and XC. One nice thing about the Blur XC is that it would already be built and might be able to get a good deal for one. However it would be nice to build up the Spydr with the components I want. I was looking to spend ~$3000-3500. Any other thoughts?

Anyone have experience with Devinci bikes out of Canada? They have some nice looking frames, unfortunately none of my LBS carry them. Seems like a Canada only thing.

It sounds like the Spyder should fit the bill for you then. With the money you're talking about you can really hang a nice drivetrain and wheels on it and have a super nice ride.
Have fun.
