What brakes do you have now and what don't you like about 'em? What kind of riding do you do?

That shouldn't happen with properly adjusted disc brakes. Are these mechanical or hydraulic? What brand/model?

If your looking for an Upgrade,
The best mechanical disk brake out there is the BB7. Its the easiest to adjust as well.
you canfind them for arounnd 80-100 for the front and rear

+2 on the BB7's. Make sure you use a good quality full housing cable like the Jagwire Ripcords or the Gore Ride On cables. It will make a huge difference in how the brakes work and with modulation.
Another good upgrade that isn't too expensive is a brake lever upgrade to the Avid Speed Dial 7's. You can get a set for around 20-25 bux.

I recently changed my brakes to BB7s. I bought this kit that comes with SD-7 levers and Jagwire brake cable:

I don't know how the cable compares to the more expensive Jagwire cable, but the brakes are doing great.
Oh, and the kit comes with Avid Clean Sweep rotors instead of the ones that are in the picture.
