Manipoo(you guys were right)

Well, after only 2 1/2 years of hard riding on my Manitou Nixon fork it broked. I was doing a little 4' drop on my hartail and when I hit the fork cracked loudly. Now it only has about 2" of travel and a ton of stiction. What a POS ...you guys told me so. I'll drop it off at Suspention Experts for a rework.

If they still have parts for it. I was having a manitou fork rebuilt - it was two years old. There was a broken piece in the fork, I forget what it was now, but the dealer tried to get it and Manitou said "oops, sorry, we're not making parts for that fork anymore!"

48 hour turnaround. Everyone I've talked to says that after a rework at S.E. the fork is much nicer feeling thatn when it was new. They'll be at the race tomorrow so I'll send it with them and pick it up in Asheville on Wed. It's nice to have a shop like that close to home.

2.5 years of a hack abusing a fork will break most forks. A talented rider wouldn't land as hard as a hack. I think your self-proclaimed lack of talent, is likely the reason your fork broke(JMO).

Yeah, '66 has no idea what he's doing out there.

So this is the first I've heard about Suspension Experts, checked the website, seems pretty cool. Looks like the same deal as PUSH, have you had work done there before?

I know he does, but this sounds like the kids that come into the shop with a broken crankset and a JRA story.

I hope to have some talent one day. All I know is that I was JRA and my fork broked fom the inside. After talking to the guy that owns S.E. he suspects it may be toast. It may be time for a new fork.

Manipoo sux. Good thing the frame wasn't made by Crack 'n' Fail. Steel is real, son. (I can't think of any of the other clever rhymes that bounce around this hell hole.)

I would get a blue fork but it would out run the rest of the bike.

After doing a little searching around just in case S.E. can't fix the Nix......(I kill me).
I found a few replacements that won't break the bank but I'm not sure which one yet.I'm really diggin' my All Mtn1 on the Bullit.

All I'm saying is that I'm fairly sure that you're not easy on your equipment and everything breaks if you overtax it long enough.

How long did you really think it would last.

I've broken my fair share of equipment over the last 22 years of mountain biking. Just about the only part that that I've never had a problem with is my Chris King headset.

Are you mad that it broke, or that you might not be able to get it fixed?

Ah, do your homework.

I've taken some time off from the MTB forum because it's a little childish, but I know who the guys from Pisgah are, and I'm not challenging their abilities.

I know you hate Manitou, and I do too, but everything will break if you use it long enough.

None of these guy's puss out when they ride. that will take it's toll on their equipment.

If you don't agree with me, that's cool. I don't really give a $hit what you think, but you really shouldn't make assumptions about people that you know nothing about.

If you think I'm just some roadie that can't ride, come to Boulder City NV on your next vacation and we'll go ride.

Don't forget you armor.

here's a clip of the area closest to home.

the trails aren't all tough. but even the easy trails will bite you after the simplest mistake

This is Girlscout, an easy trail .

BTW, I'm not being defensive, just simply show what the place has to offer. come try it . I've never met a good rider that didn't enjoythemslef here.

Actually, I don't. I've had good luck with the two forks I've had from them. Both of which garner horrible reviews. I did find their spring rates a little soft.

Ok, so I assumed he hated Manitou( it seems to be the opinion of most BFers), but in this thread, what assumptions did I make? Everything that I said about mtnbiker66 was based on what he said about himself.

Heck yeah. My dog never goes up there because his legs are too short(he's a Scottie), but unless it's Interbike week or a race weekend, the place is pretty empty.

Well, I didn't hear from them today so I'm starting to think they can fix it. I also heard from Mert at ReCycles and he said he could get me a good price on a 44.
