Help with a decision today!!! Tires

Moving to a more street friendly tire on my Trek 8000 as 99% of my time is on the road and would like to stretch out my mileage and speed. I have zero experience with anything other than the current 2.2's on the bike.

I am looking at my LBS and would like to go with either the Specialized Fat Boy or Nimbus. Which one would you go with and why?

Thanks a ton in advance.

Of those two choices, I would go with the Maxxis Xenith.

Sad.

Went with the Fat Boy slicks, will report back after a few weeks.

Sad.

When a tires sucks, does it adversely affect barometric pressure?

Hmm, sell your bike and buy a commuter bike?

Otherwise get a set of 1.3" Continental SportContact tires and matching tubes.

On one of my mountain bikes, I dropped down all the way to a 1.5" tire. It is just a cheaper tire, but MUCH faster on paved roads. Biggest drawback for me is to get to the paved roads I have to ride a little ways on limerock/sandy roads. Much easier for bike to " squirm " & lose control on these type roads.

I have a 1.25 slick on my mtb for a trainer... it rides good on the street, but the 2.1 semislick looks ridiculous on the front with that thing on there.

kenda kross plus are cheap and roll good, my dad has some on a comfort bike, but you can't really lean the bike on some of the semislick tires as when you lean it those side knobs kind of loosen you up.

Kenda K-Rad

Thanks for the input.

Went from 2.2 front / 2.1 rear to the 1.25 Specialized Fat Boy slicks.............two rides this weekend, 20 and 25 miles, approx. 2 mph faster with the slicks. Biggest difference is how quiet they are...........you feel the road a touch more, but no big deal.

Take care.
