I always liked the look of the old LTS double boingers- unfortunately the pivots loosened up on those frames relatively quickly( as did most 4-bar linkage frames from that era).

Oh, yeah. I remember most of that stuff. I had the Manipoo 2, used to think it looked so cool, travel was, like, 1 1/2" ? Hanebrink inverted. Doug probably knows some stuff about that one. If I had to choose one to keep it would probably be the Klein, still a great hardtail. Grafton cranks on it?

For me it was a never ending battle in my mind..."Gorilla Billet or Paul's? Paul all the way!!"

    Then there was the Kooka-oogling.

Control Tech was right up here in the Seattle area, they sponsored a lot of racing here, particularly the Marymoor Velodrome cyclocross series at the beginnings.

And Gary Klein's operation was about thirty miles south of me. Knew a few guys that worked there. His wife came to our glass studio to commission some stained glass for their house. When I called Ms. Klein to schedule a site visit, Gary answered the phone and pretty much squelched the idea. Wife must've been burnin' through the cash or something. In '97 I found myself on the start line next to Gary Klein at a Norba National XC race up at Snoqualmie Pass. I actually ran into Gary Klein on the trail last March here in Capital Forest, he was leading a group of about 6-8 MTB'ers, he was somewhat portly, hair dyed red, riding a Klein frame (of course) with a Maverick inverted fork, the rest of the party was mostly on Specialized bikes (!).

Right, OK. Thanks, my memory is fading. IIRC, Cook Bros. also had the same general shape as the crank arms on their QR lever.

All my retro (I'm going to arbitrarily say pre-1995 is retro) rides have been stolen or sold. I still have some retro parts, these on a 1996 Mongoose that originally came with grip shift...
