Help with bike appraisal!

I'm in the process of selling my Santa Cruz superlight. Its an older version of the model, maybe around 2000. I'm not sure how to figure out what year it is and how much it is worth. It has top notch components. Take a look! Let me know what you think. The link has pictures and specs. I have a feeling i may have overpriced it.
https://denver.craigslist.org/bik/931391087.html

Also, would it be more profitable to part it out?

Thanks!

i'm not too familiar with craigslist, but can you link out to pictures that you host elsewhere? are those pics of yours compressed by craigslist, or are they just suck quality? if it's CL that's doing it, get some better shots up on photobucket or something, so we can take a look-see .

if you think you've overpriced it, and you're not in a rush to sell it, just keep it up there on CL. if someone buys it, perfect. if not... oh well. you can always drop price later!

what brakes? what rear shock? what pedals?

Definitely overpriced. Used/older stuff just doesn't hold its value. Everyone wants the newest 'thing'. It's a lot like ski equipment- last year's stuff goes to the bargain basement for pennies on the dollar. Especially used.

I think you may want to list at $600-$700 and see how that goes.

Its avid brakes, fox racing rear shox, ETA front shocks, and Shimano PD-m535 clip in pedals (w/ shoes)

I'll work on getting some pics with a different site that has better quality. Thanks for the input

Avid is a brand. Fox is also a brand. ETA is a designation that Marzocchi puts on quite a few of their forks.

I wouldn't buy a bike only knowing the brands of the components, as opposed to the models.

Just remember, the way you are describing the bike makes it sound like a stolen one (at least to me). The only think that makes me personally think that it isnt stolen is that you have shoes for it.

Kind of a sidetrack sort of thing here. If you don't know that your components are the same as a manufacturer spec, not a good idea to link to a description that may not be accurate, just gets you in trouble. Easier with Trek than Santa Cruz due to the way the companies do model designations. Santa Cruz bikes have several different component configurations under one model name, whereas Trek usually takes one frame and decorates and equips it differently and gives each configuration it's own model name.

OP--your post did make me wonder what the deal was....if I read your ad I'd be suspicious due to the lack of model information; brand names mean only so much, as many brands have low end as well as high end components...

how come you don't know much 'bout it? what'd you do, inherit it? most riders know what they're riding, especially once you've put some $$$ into it.
