So none of you have an account over at mtbr?

Speaking of which, I just remembered my password for over there and they have an insane amount of subforums, including for brands. Useless really.

Crap, they also have more members and more active members...

And it turns out my user title over there is "lurker". I really should get more involved...

Huh? Wha? The braintrust of technical knowledge, better rider/peer reviews, cool ride reports/photos, trail/advocacy info, and regional riding info (at least as pertaining to mtb) at emptybeer and some other mtb specific forums far, far exceeds that of the mtb forum here.

As well as most of them having much less heavy handed moderation going on.

It's not as if you have to go and actually read through every subforum ya know.

I was actually responding more to the 3 replies right after my first one.

I saw your thousands of post on mtbr, assuming that you share user names and avatar pics.

The OP does ask for mountain bike specific forums (plural) so bikeforums.net, while nice, really doesn't cut it, like scrublover says for the content difference. Mtbr is my usual hangout and I come over here for a very small bit of variety...although I'm sure we'd love to have the usual witty repartee of the regulars here (what 5 or 6?) over there as well.

It could sure use it . . . as it seems to be heavily populated with junior high boys - - and adults whose writing skills never advanced much beyond that.

Even though I contribute on another heretofore unnamed (and very good) forum, I think it's a bit tacky to use this forum's server and bandwidth to advertise them; so I won't.

See, I don't see that as tacky at all, considering most of other forums mentioned can be found on a simple web search.

Tacky would be shilling for your own site, or one you had some sort of financial stake in.

Well, I was being a bit sarcastic about the witty part...

Literacy level is higher on bikeforums, no contest there.

. . . and I was projecting a bit in my 'tacky' statement. Of course others are free to prop the forums they find useful to them. I should have said that, being a moderator here, it would be inappropriate of me to promote other sites such as RideMonkey and others
