    Monkeying around with my vinyl sign machine this afternoon out of boredom. Everybody should have one of these things.

    Yeah, I'll never recoup the money for this machine and I don't use it all that much but I wouldn't part with it for anything. Roland GX-24. Not sure what they cost but I think I paid $1600 for mine several years ago.

    Desktop units can be had for much, much cheaper and quite frankly do 99.9% of what most people would ever want to do with a sign machine.

    The problem is software. The stuff they give you is barely passable once you make something more intense than "Happy Birthday" and good sign software costs a bundle. I use Corel Draw and a plug in called CoCut. Both them together probably about cost a good portion of what the machine cost.
