Im not at all educated on bikes like some of you on these forums but I would like to get an expert opinion on a bike I am planning to get off a friend of mine. All I need it for is cycling to and from Uni however would like it to be capable of some mountain biking holidays that I sometimes go on. Ill attach a picture and maybe you could give me some insight into whether its decent enough and how much you would pay for it.
I think it has hydraulic breaks which sounds good, but probably something for a keen or 'type' of rider...?
Just keen to get an idea of what everyone here would pay.
Pick is a bit fuzzy, but it looks like a older GT frame. They can not be destroyed!! As far as hydraulic brakes, I may be wrong, but I don't believe they made them in canti or V's. And it looks like some version of those on the bike. 160 is not alot to spend on a bike. The Wally World POS bikes cost that and more brand new and dont even compare to that one in performance. See if you can go lower if not, buy it. Great starter bike.
Ive done a bit of research into findng out about this bike. Speaking to a GT guy he said that it looked like a GT Ruckus Frame from Mid 2000's, with a paint job. He said the same as you, the frames are sturdy but its not got the stock parts on it so I would need to check them out more closely.
Ill attach a few more pictures which are blurry but I had to put up with my phone.
Hydraulic rim brakes, wild looking!! Cant say i have even seen those around my part of town. Do they work well?
rcourtman, I am guessing you are not living in the US states, from the £ symbol. If the price is about the same as 150 U.S. dollars, again not a bad price for a decent bike. Go for it. you can allways upgrade a few things later if you need to. Sorry about the bold print, don't know how that happened.
