Ugly Fork

If you membered i recently purchased a fork, a djIII.
it was custom painted green, at least i think custom
well i h8 the color cuz it doesnt go with my bike
i got a dark blue and white bike, and the green fork is hideous
if i cover the stancions (did i spell that right?) with a towel or two
will me spray painting it black do anything
i mean will it make the bike peform any less then it does?

Your kidding right?...its just paint.

The only diff I would do I take the fork apart and remove the lowers and paint them AWAY from the stanchions.

I love black.

BTW when you paint it maybe sanding the nasty green paint would help a bit? Just to rough it up and have something for the black paint to cling to.

Personally I like my bike having non-matching colors. It gives it a more "unique" look. If you have a camera post a picture of the bike and/or fork.

If you are going to paint the fork have the fork disassembled and paint the lowers seperately from the crown and all that stuff. Be sure to tape off the inside of the lowers and the seals very carefully and thoroughly. Rough up the green paint and personally I'd hit it with flat black BBQ paint... very durable, good coverage and looks pro even if you are painting with Parkinsons, thanks to the great coverage properties. Flat black looks cool on anything.

if you can, remove the seals on it before painting.

It sounds like from his description that the fork is the colour of your avatar.

i meant about getting paint maybe in some of the cracks, or stanctions, or crown. that cud affect it :-p. thats wat i was trying to get at. and i was wondering if painting it was a little too risky and might get in there. i used duct tape to put thik stripes on it, looks sweet.

Not not risky. Masking the fork is taking a chance but if you are really careful you should be fine. (don't paint the external seals)

I'd be willing 2 bet that any sand or dirt U get on the upper arms would be worse than some paint... but like I said before, who cares what colour it is? R U just out there 2 B seen or something?

Please use full words...its hard to read kiddie script.

I enjoy a nice looking bike. If my colours are messed up I would paint it too...
