I saw some North Face bikes today. There were some hardtails and some with fs. The ones w/ fs ran for about 1200. Just wondering if you guys have seen these and what you thought about them. When I think of The North Face I think of clothes and stuff not bikes.

I saw a few of them at Galyans, I think they are re-labled Iron Horse bikes, they did not look too bad, components are NOT bad, but the prices are not impressive, and given that the staff at Galyans is not geared to provide the type of assitance you need, you can do better at a local bike shop.

Galyans has been purchased by Dicks Sporting goods so some brands are changing, just a heads up.

Ive seen them too, for that price Id go for aStinky and not some ca ca relabel.

Yeah, I saw it at a Galyans turned Dicks. It just surprised me when I saw them. I figured they were going to be like dept. store bikes but they had Manitou forks.

Just for everyones sake. These are not relabelled. These are done by the same engineer who does ironhorse. Same quality, same build, but their own name. I would but one of these bad boys now. Well worth the coin.

undefinedDick's hasn't discounted these bikes as much as I thought they would when they reopened a couple of weeks ago. One of the sales people said that everything was half -off back in December so it looks like the best prices were before the name change. They seem like decent bikes for starters...

Well I've read most of the posts but not all. I just purchased a North Face Mountain Bike from Dick's (Galayans). I don't know anything about mountain biking... but I will soon find out. : ) I will join a Trail Riding series soon. 3 weekends, 3 trails.

The bike is a "The North Face Yavanpai." I came home "googled" the name and nothing came up.

The retail price was $399 ($400) and I bought it for $279. I also purchased a $40 dollar 2 year warranty. I will ride it today for about 1 hr. I'll return and give more imput. I have already heard a bit of clicking while shifting gears however when I used to ride (like 15years ago, lol) the gears would click if you weren't used to the gear's required pressure, etc.

I purchased because of 1.) a time constraint to the competition and 2.) I was frustrated because on The Craig's List website I couldn't find any deals and then at that I could get a Lemon.

Craig's List pricing was about $200-$300... What a rip.

I don't think I'll downhill at 30 mph so I think the Frame will hold up, IronHorse or not. I've seen Iron Horse, they seem okay - they appear as tougher or comparable to say a Jamis Mountain Bike or a IronHorse.

Now I need to buy a helmet.

I took one out for a spin (forgot what model it was but it was 400 bucks). Not bad bits but it was very heavy and badly ballanced. My Mongoose, even with lower level bits is IMHO a much better bike.

hey guys this was an old thread before. revmonkey left a link to it. as the people in that thread say it os an ironhorse frame. they also put better comps. for less money, great deal. my pumori rides perfectly for me. i expect that some LBS will soon get them. I dont no if dicks will be carrying them long for cheap so get them will their hot.

I just picked up a close out sale on a 04 North Face Denali/ PRO for $399.99 at Dicks in Roosevelt Mall, L.I., NY. Regular price is $1,399.99. You would be stupid not to buy it for the parts itself. There is a Easton design stamp on the right side of frame and has and Easton Ultralite patent. I think the design is from Iron Horse though, not sure exactly. Parts are the following; Marzocchi MX Comp/ETA fork, SRAM X9 shifter and R. Der, LX F. Der, Hayes NINE disc brakes/ carbon levers, Truvativ Fire-X cranks, WTB Speed disc wheels, Easton 50 bars/stem/seat post, WTB speed saddle. It is fairly light. An freakin awesome bike and deal. Who cares if its not a high in brand, it still kicks ass.

Does any one really knows who designs the frame or has more information on the North Face bike?

Okay guys, I bought a North Face Denali 3 years ago from Dicks who had recently taken over Galyans. I have spent probably 1k keeping this bike in good riding condition but I have ridden this bike in Moab, Crested Butte and basically all the great front range trails the Denver metro area has to offer. I have had to replace the Derailleur hanger a couple times, replace the cables, replace the back rim with a hand built substitute, replace all the chain rings and real cassette, but the frame has been extemely solid along with the Marazocchi fork. If you can still find this bike, buy it because it is a great value. I'm over 1500 miles in and the frame is still as solid as when it was new. I'm taking it to get the crank replaced this winter and I will probably put another 1k miles on it over the next couple years.
